About this design

ゲルダ・ヴィーグナー（1886-1940）は、1920年代に「VOGUE」などの雑誌で活躍したイラストレーターです。
当時は「フラッパー flapper」と呼ばれる、自由奔放で享楽主義の新しい女性たちが街に溢れていました。まだカラー写真が普及していない時代、ファッションデザイナーの新しいコレクションはジョルジュ・バルビエ（1982-1932)やゲルダらの手によって美しいイラストに再現され、最先端のファッション誌に掲載されていました。

細部まで描き込まれた彼女のイラストは全く古さを感じさせません。当時は禁酒法の時代ですが、フラッパーはドレスの下のガーターに小瓶を挟んで、時々こっそり取り出しお酒を飲んでいました(coolすぎる！）そんなワンショットのイラストを、プロのデザイナーの手によって現代に蘇らせました。
