プラカットハーフムーンという品種のベタのハチ子。
生まれつき左の腹びれが折れており、背びれや尻びれも同じように屈折している跡があります。
さらに、生後早い時期から腎臓部分がパンパンに膨らんでくる「腎肥大症」を患っていました。
これは細胞に寄生虫が寄生して細胞を破壊していく病気です。
同時期に他のベタたちは売れていましたが、ハチ子だけはしばらく売れずにいました。これらのことがあったかもしれません。
その後、オスベタの水槽に挟まれて紅一点家族に愛されながら過ごしていました。
しかし、腎肥大が進行して血管が詰まったのか、ビクビクと発作のように小刻みに動いた後、しばらくして急死してしまいました。
ハチ子は臆病で少し人見知りだったのですが、少しずつ打ち解けて、近づいて家族の顔をじっと見つめたりしていました。
