About this design
私が所有する、黒曜石製の槍先尖頭器(伝・北海道出土)のイラストです。
後期旧石器時代と縄文時代の移行期
(約20,000〜15,000年前)に見られる特徴を持つ槍先尖頭器で、北海道十勝産と推定される黒曜石製。
長さは11cm前後ですが、厚みは1cmもありません。
欠けは殆ど見られず、ほぼ完形品です。
槍先に付けて大型獣(ヘラジカ、ナウマンゾウ、ヒグマ等)の狩猟に利用されたもので、さらに後期更新世の北海道にはマンモスも居たので、これも狩猟していた可能性があります。
このような大型尖頭器は各遺跡でも数点しか出土しない大変希少なものになります。
また、旧石器人の洗練された技巧によりきわめて繊細に整形されており、現代人の知識でも再現する事は困難です。
これらを製作した旧石器人は、後の縄文人の直系祖先に繋がります。
