18トリソミーという遺伝子の病気をもつ息子をイメージしています。
"Different, not less"のメッセージは、「ただ、みんなと違うだけ。足りないわけじゃない、劣っているわけじゃない」という意味です。
鼻についているのは、人工呼吸器のカニューレ。
しっぽの３枚の葉っぱは、18番目の遺伝子が1本多く3本になっているという彼らの個性を表しています。
