About this design

日本でもなじみ深いペンギンであるフンボルトペンギン、マゼランペンギン、ケープペンギン。そして赤道直下のガラパゴス諸島に生息する、唯一の北半球に生息するペンギンであるガラパゴスペンギン。この4種の「スフェニスカス属」は温帯に住むペンギンたち。
そんな4種を「桜梅桃李」のことばに合わせてフンボルトペンギンには桜、マゼランペンギンには梅、ケープペンギンには桃、ガラパゴスペンギンには李の花の着物をそれぞれ着せました。
「桜梅桃李」のことばの通り、この4種は一見似ているようでそれぞれに違った個性の花を咲かせる魅力的なペンギンたちなのです。
