About this design

着物ぺんぎんのソロバージョンシリーズ、「桜梅桃李」をテーマにしたフンボルトペンギン属から桜の着物のフンボルトペンギンが登場です！
日本で最も飼育している園館、飼育個体数が多く、日本にいる個体数はフンボルトペンギン全体の個体数のなんと約1割もいるとか。
マゼランペンギンの生息域でもある南米大陸の沿岸に生息しているので、日本の気候にも適応しやすいのが日本での個体数の多さや繁殖の優秀な技術・実績に繋がっているのかもしれません。
そんな日本ではおなじみのフンボルトペンギンも、野生では絶滅を危惧されているペンギンの1種であり、環境問題や漁獲などの影響で近年の個体数の減少が深刻なのが現状です。
そっくりさん揃いのフンボルトペンギン属の中での一番の見分けるポイントはくちばしの周りがピンクな事。実はこれ、羽毛が生えていない部分なのです。
