About this design

一糸纏わぬ姿のまま馬に乗る女性は、11世紀イギリスの伯爵夫人レディ・ゴダイヴァです。町人に重税を課そうとする夫に減税を訴え、苦しむ民衆を救おうとした夫人は「全裸で馬に乗り、町中を走ること」を言い渡されます。

条件を呑んでまで夫人が自分たちを守ろうとしていることを知った民衆は、深い愛と勇気あふれる夫人の行動に敬意を払い、その日は家に篭り決して外を覗かないことを誓いました。ゴダイヴァ夫人のエピソードは、チョコレートブランド「GODIVA」のシンボルマークにもなっています。
