About this design

キャンプは、野外での一時的な生活を指している。ラテン語の「campus カンプス」、フランス語の「champ シャン」は「野」を意味し、英語のcampやcampingも同系統の語である。

現在では、「キャンプ」と言うと、その多くがテントや即席の小屋状構造物での滞在を指すことが多いが、実際には特に限定はなく、岩窟などの自然地形を利用して生活することや、簡単なツェルトなどでの一時的なビバーク、積雪期に雪洞を掘りそこで過ごすなど、広義には、ともかく野（野外、屋外）で一時的に生活すること全般を指す。

キャンプは特に自然の中で活動するからこそ大きな効能がもたらされると考えられている。人為的、作為的な空間であり、一種の保護装置と化してしまった都市から離れた大自然の中での生活は、都市での日常行動を打ち破る創造的行動が要求され、また自然と接する内に、その美しさや厳しさを知ることも出来る[1]。またキャンプの一連の活動の中で登山、釣り、水泳などの活動をする内に、身体を鍛えることも出来る。

Printing Notice
