冬になると日本に渡ってくる冬鳥。住宅街や公園、河川敷、林などわりとどこでも見ることが出来る身近な小鳥。冬鳥ではあるが一部地域では繁殖例が増えているため、一年中見られるようになるのでは…と期待をしている。オスは「ジョビ男」メスは「ジョビ子」と呼ばれて愛されてる。
ジョビ男は鮮やかなオレンジ、黒い羽に白い斑と目立つ。冬の初めは「ﾋｯﾋｯ…ｶｯｶｯ」と大きな声で鳴くため見つけやすい。警戒心のない個体は、土いじりをしていると虫を探してすぐ近くまで寄ってきたりするのでとてもとても可愛い。可愛いのにキリッとした表情はイケメンで、多くの人に愛される冬のアイドル。
