About this design
本グッズは、19世紀に活躍した日本の絵師「歌川国芳（うたがわ くによし）」が残した錦絵「金魚づくし」を元に制作しています。
この錦絵は、金魚や様々な生物が擬人化され、愛らしい姿が生き生きと描かれた「金魚づくし」シリーズの一つ、「玉や玉や」です。
「玉や玉や」の掛け声とともにシャボン玉を売り歩く「玉や」が、子供たちにシャボン玉を見せる様子が描かれています。亀や金魚、蛙の子供たちが大はしゃぎな様子が実に微笑ましいですね。シャボン玉は江戸時代初期（1680年頃）にポルトガルから日本に伝わり、子供たちに人気の玩具となりました。
