About this design

本グッズは、19世紀に活躍した日本の絵師「歌川国芳（うたがわくによし）」が残した錦絵「金魚づくし」を元に制作しています。
この錦絵は、金魚や様々な生物が擬人化され、愛らしい姿が生き生きと描かれた「金魚づくし」シリーズの一つ、「百ものがたり」です。
江戸で流行った怪談会、「百ものがたり」をやっている様子が描かれています。「百ものがたり」では百本の蝋燭を灯し、怪談が一つ終る度に蝋燭を一本消していき、最後の蝋燭が消えると化け物が現れると言われていました。この絵では最後の話が終わって、化け猫が現れたようです。
