About this design

錦絵「二代目坂東三津五郎の石井源蔵」のトートバッグです。

1794年5月から約10か月ほどの僅かな期間に役者絵・相撲絵など140数点を刊行し、忽然と姿を消した謎の絵師「東洲斎写楽（とうしゅうさいしゃらく）」が残した役者絵のグッズです。

本作品は、二代目坂東三津五郎が、実際の仇討事件を脚色した演目「花菖蒲文禄曽我（はなあやめぶんろくそが）」で父を殺された3兄弟の長兄、石井源蔵を演じたものが描かれています。父の仇、藤川水右衛門に挑む源蔵が描かれたと考えられています。この時源蔵は返り討ちにあってしまいますが、28年後に弟達が仇を討ちます。
