About this design

錦絵「市川鰕蔵の竹村定之進」のトートバッグです。

1794年5月から約10か月ほどの僅かな期間に役者絵・相撲絵など140数点を刊行し、忽然と姿を消した謎の絵師「東洲斎写楽（とうしゅうさいしゃらく）」が残した役者絵のグッズです。

本作品は、市川鰕蔵が、演目「恋女房染分手綱（こいにょうぼうそめわけたづな）」の竹村定之進を演じたものが描かれています。竹村定之進は、娘の重の井と伊達の与作との不義に責任を感じ切腹する悲しい役どころです。
