About this design

錦絵「谷村虎蔵の鷲塚八平次」のロングスリーブTシャツです。

1794年5月から約10か月ほどの僅かな期間に役者絵・相撲絵など140数点を刊行し、忽然と姿を消した謎の絵師「東洲斎写楽（とうしゅうさい しゃらく）」が残した役者絵のグッズです。

本作品は、谷村虎蔵が演目「恋女房染分手綱（こいにょうぼうそめわけたづな）」の悪役、鷲塚八平次を演じたものが描かれています。伊達与作から金三百両を奪った鷲塚八平次の悪事が露見し、相手に切りかかろうとしている姿が描かれていると考えられています。
