About this design

錦絵「松本米三郎の化粧坂の少将実はしのぶ」のトートバッグです。

1794年5月から約10か月ほどの僅かな期間に役者絵・相撲絵など140数点を刊行し、忽然と姿を消した謎の絵師「東洲斎写楽（とうしゅうさいしゃらく）」が残した役者絵のグッズです。

本作品は、松本米三郎が、演目「敵討乗合話（かたちうちのりやいばなし）」のしのぶを演じたものが描かれています。しのぶは志賀大七に殺害された松下造酒之進の娘で、姉の宮城野と仇討ちをします。松本米三郎は当時人気の女形でしたが、31歳の若さで亡くなってしまいました。
