About this design

錦絵「八代目森田勘弥の賀籠舁鶯の治郎作」のトートバッグです。

1794年5月から約10か月ほどの僅かな期間に役者絵・相撲絵など140数点を刊行し、忽然と姿を消した謎の絵師「東洲斎写楽（とうしゅうさいしゃらく）」が残した役者絵のグッズです。

本作品は、八代目森田勘弥が、演目「敵討乗合話（かたきうちのりあいばなし）」の賀籠舁鶯の治郎作を演じたものが描かれています。「戻駕（もどりかご）」と呼ばれる舞踊を披露している治郎作の姿が描かれています。
