元JR東海キハ40系気動車がミャンマーで現役で活躍する様子が写った写真です。
かつてJR東海で走り回っていたこの元JR東海のキハ40系列は、高山本線などで活躍しました。
そんなキハ40系気動車は、ミャンマーに譲渡された後も同じカラーリングを保ち、ミャンマー国鉄において引き続き活躍しています。
この写真は、ミャンマー第2の都市であるマンダレー駅のホームで撮影されたものです。
夜明け前のマンダレー駅には早朝の列車に乗るためにホームで夜明かしする乗客たちが寝ていました。
カルチャーの違いが感じられます。
見慣れたはずのキハ40系気動車が存在しながら、ミャンマーの時の流れがゆったりとした雰囲気が辺りを包みます。日本人には不思議な異国情緒を感じる事になりました。
鉄道ファンにとっては、これぞ至福の瞬間と言えるでしょう。
