タイに渡ったDD51ディーゼル機関車は、線路の複線化工事を請け負う建設業者さんによって、とても大切にされています。
ワタシがタイに訪れた2019年はDD51を本格的に利用するための整備期間中で、走行するシーンは見ることが出来ませんでした。
しかし、北斗星・カシオペア・トワイライトエクスプレスなどを牽引した栄光の時を彷彿とさせるような、2両が連結した重連の姿でワタシを出迎えてくれました。
2023年の今は、整備も完了し、エンジン音も高らかにタイで活躍しています。
DD51は信頼性の高いディーゼル機関車で、タイの鉄道に新たな活気をもたらしています🌟
