About this design

この車両はかつてJR西日本の播但線などで活躍していたキハ58系ですが、日本での現役を引退した後、海を渡りタイ国鉄に引き継がれました。
タイでの活躍が期待されましたが、このキハ58は一度もタイ国内で稼働することなく、寂しく朽ち果ててしまいました。
タイ国鉄の規格に合わせて車両の改造を依頼された業者が破綻した為、あと一歩の所で走行が出来なくなってしまったようです。
その時から何十年にも渡って放置され、この気動車は忘れられた存在になりました。
往年の輝きを失ってもなお、キハ58の姿は風格を感じさせます。
