ぼんくら（盆暗）：頭 の働きが鈍く、物事の見通しが利かないさま（ 人 ）。 ぼんくらは、 盆 の上での勝負に対する目利きが暗いことから、勝負によく負ける人を 賭博 用語で「盆暗」と呼んだことが語源とされる。 幼児を意味する「坊」が変化した「ぼん」に、「盆」の字が当てられたとする説もある。
