サルバドール・ダリ（Salvador Dalí スペイン語: [salβaˈðoɾ ðaˈli]、初代ダリ・デ・プブル侯爵 Marqués de Dalí de Púbol (es)は、スペイン・フィゲーラス出身の画家。
1904年5月11日 - 1989年1月23日
シュルレアリスムの代表的な作家として知られる。
フルネームはカタルーニャ語でサルバドー・ドメネク・ファリプ・ジャシン・ダリ・イ・ドメネク (Salvador Domènec Felip Jacint Dalí i Domènech)。
妻は詩人ポール・エリュアールの元妻、ガラ・エリュアール＝ダリ。
サルバドール・ダリは、スペインが生んだ20世紀を代表する最も多才な画家。
6歳の時に初めて、油彩で風景画を描いてから70歳代後半まで絵画はもちろんのこと彫刻、版画、舞台装置や衣装のデザイン、映画制作と実に幅広い表現活動をしています。
ダリの絵といえば、美術の教科書等で“柔らかく描かれた時計”をみたことを思い出す人も多いでしょう。
探究心の強いダリは、印象派、点描派、キュビスムなどの先輩の作風を学び、その影響をうけました。
1930年代は、パリを中心にシュルレアリスム（超現実主義）という芸術運動が盛んであり、ダリもその運動に加わります。
夢と心の奥にひそむ欲望をあばき出すことを絵画の主な目的として幻想的で非合理的な絵画を多く制作するようになりますが、“柔らかい時計”はその頃の代表的な作品なのです。
ダリの、この旺盛な創作活動を陰で支えたのが、妻のガラでした。
ガラをモデルにした作品もたくさんあります。
ダリは、「ガラ以外は、全て敵である。」、「私の全ての絵画はガラの血で描かれた。」と述べているほどの結びつきでした。
その後もヨーロッパ各地、そしてアメリカでの大回顧展の成功、美術館の完成と名声を高めていきます。
「天才を演じきると天才になれる。」といったダリの言葉が多岐にわたる表現活動と彼の生きざまを表しているといえます。
