About this design
半人半魚の妖怪 。豊作や疫病の予言をすると伝えられる。海中より現れ「疫病が流行ったら、私の写し絵を人々に見せよ」と告げて海に戻ったとの言い伝えが あります 。江戸時代後期に瓦版として取り上げられ、肥後（熊本）から江戸へと伝わったとされています。
アマビエという不思議な妖怪の存在を通じて、人類の直面する感染症の教訓を伝えていきたい。私たちはそう考えています。「疫病退散アマビエ」を通じて得た収益の一部は感染症と戦い、人類の先頭に立つ世界中の医療研究者・団体へ寄付いたします。
