ミュシャ - サラ・ベルナール ラ・プルーム
サラ・ベルナールは、1895年4月からパリのルネッサンス劇場でエドモン・ロスタンの舞台『La Princesse lointaine』でMélissindeを演じました。
このポスターは、ミュシャが描いた女優の全身像とは異なり、1896年12月9日にパリのグランドホテルで行われたベルナールの友人やファンによる宴会のために制作されたものである。
このポスターは非常に人気があり、『ラ・プルーム』誌、『エディション・ダール』誌、百貨店「ラ・ベル・ジャルディニエール」のポストカードとして複製された。
ベルナールは、ミュシャがデザインした百合の花で飾られたティアラを髪につけている。
アルフォンス・マリア・ミュシャ（1860年7月24日 - 1939年7月14日）は、チェコ出身の画家、イラストレーター、グラフィックアーティストで、アール・ヌーヴォーの時代にパリに住んでいた。また、挿絵、広告、装飾パネル、デザインなどを手がけ、この時代の最も有名なイメージのひとつとなった。
キャリアの後半、57歳のときに故郷に戻り、1912年から1926年にかけて、世界のすべてのスラブ民族の歴史を描いた『スラブ叙事詩』と呼ばれる20枚の記念碑的キャンバスのシリーズに没頭した。1928年、チェコスロバキア独立10周年記念に、チェコ国民にこのシリーズを贈呈した。彼はこのシリーズを自分の最も重要な作品と位置づけていた。
