殻にこもることをやめた新種の貝
殻を脱ぎ捨てることにより手足が発達し浅瀬を練り歩くだけでなく海を泳ぐ力を手に入れた。
頭部の渦巻きは殻にこもっていた頃の名残りだろう。大阪湾近辺で発見されたが個体数が極めて少ないことからその生態は謎に包まれている。
