すみれは実はギリシャ神話と関係があります。
これはちょっと悲しいお話です。

昔、とても美しいイアという娘がいました。

太陽の神アポロンもイアの美しさに
ひと目惚れしてしまいました。

でも、イアには婚約者がいたので
アポロンの愛を受け入れる事はできません。

イアはアポロンの激しい愛と、
イアの婚約者の間で苦しんみます。

その苦しみに耐えれず、貞操の神アルテミスに
自分を人間以外の姿に変えるように頼みました。

その変えられた姿が「すみれ」だったのです。

また、怒ったアポロンが
イアを「すみれ」に変えてしまった。

・・とも言われています。

いつの時代も美人には
嫉妬の苦労がつきものなんですね。笑
