About this design

『モナ・リザ』（伊: La Gioconda、仏: La Joconde）は、イタリアの美術家レオナルド・ダ・ヴィンチが描いた油彩画。上半身のみが描かれた女性の肖像画で、「世界でもっとも知られた、もっとも見られた、もっとも書かれた、もっとも歌われた、もっともパロディ作品が作られた美術作品」といわれている。

ポプラ板に油彩で描かれた板絵で、1503年から1506年に制作されたと考えられている。もともとはフランス王フランソワ1世が購入した作品だが、現在はフランスの国有財産であり、パリのルーヴル美術館が常設展示をしている。しばしば「謎」と表現される画題の不確かさ、スケールの大きな画面構成、立体描写の繊細さ、だまし絵めいた雰囲気など、さまざまな点において斬新であったこの作品は、現在に至るまで人々を魅了し続け、研究の対象となってきた。
