オーナーの王春藺は、アメリカ大使館の娘でした。
ノスタルジックなアメリカンスタイルとアジアの伝統スパイスや調理方法、作法を取り入れた
創作料理を生み出し、大使館でのパーティで振舞ったのが始まりです。
1930年にはサンフランシスコのチャイナタウンに移り
店舗を拡大します。第二次世界大戦による一時休業を経て1950年に再オープンします。
80年代より開始した、お帰りの際のお土産フォーチュンクッキープレゼントサービスは大流行し、今日のハリウッド映画のワンシーンでも見られる定番になりました。
21世紀を迎え、世界を代表する高級アジアンの人気店の一つになっています。
