秋田竿燈まつり。提灯は上の幅に対して下の幅が1/3となり、下の提灯は上の両端に揃うような位置につるされます。職人の熟練した手作業によってこれをさらに下に向けて無限に繰り返していくとこの竿燈（カントール集合）が出来上がります。この竿燈のハウスドルフ次元はlog2/log3です。夜になると一つ一つのカントールに明かりが灯され、秋田の街に毎年幻想的な光景が拡がります。
The Chochin(paper lantern) are hung in such a way that the width of the lower lantern is 1/3 of the width of the upper lantern, and the lower lantern is aligned with both ends of the upper lantern. The lower lantern is then aligned with the upper end. The skilled hand of the craftsman repeats this process downward indefinitely to create the Cantor set. The Hausdorff dimension of this Cantor is log2/log3. At night, each Cantor is lit up and the city of Akita becomes a fantastic sight every year.
