About this design

アナバチ科のハチで、体長3cmほどとそれなりに大型だがスズメバチ科のような危険性はない。
乾いた地面に数本の穴をほり、自身の麻酔針でしとめたキリギリスなどをその中に引きずり込む。そこに卵を産み付け、幼虫はキリギリスをたべて大きくなる。子育て用の穴のほかにダミーの穴を数本掘り、でかけるときはメインの穴だけ塞いでいく。ダミーは他の天敵をだますためのものだと思われている。
