About this design

ある日、大きな贈り物が届いた。
梱包を解くと、
まださらに包み紙に隠れた大きな四角いものと
折りたたまれた便箋が一枚。
「お好きなものです。焼きました。」
　
包み紙を丁寧にはがすと、甘い香りと共に
巨大なカステラが姿をあらわした。
　
カステラの側面を手でゆっくりと
むぎゅ…むぎゅ…と押しながらその弾力を楽しんだ。
　
かじりつこうかとも思ったけれど、
唾がつくと、あとあといやな感じになるかと思い、
小さいフォークを持ってきて、
少しほじり取って小皿に乗せた。
　
その場に座って、ひとくちずつ口に運ぶ。
甘くてやわらかい、しっとりとしたカステラ。
とてもおいしい。
　
こんなに大きなものをどうやって焼いたんだろう。
　
贈ってくれた人は
信楽で陶芸家をしていると言っていた。
でも最近は土を捏ねるより
小麦粉をこねるのが好きになったらしい。
うどんを作りたかったが、
ゆでるより焼くのが得意だからと
細くて長いパンの束をもらったこともある。
　
そうか、あそこで焼いたのか・・・。
