能　鞍馬天狗／くらまてんぐ

平家方が盛りあがっている世の中。そのなかで鞍馬寺にひとり、平家の稚児（ちご）たちにまじり、孤独な日々をすごす源義経（よしつね）、幼名・牛若丸（うしわかまる）がいました。
桜が満開の鞍馬山で花見をする稚児たちでしたが、見知らぬ山伏が来たので帰ってしまいます。ひとり残り、山伏に言葉をかける牛若丸。
同じくひとりの山伏と、２人でお花見をし、孤独をなぐさめます。

実はこの山伏は、鞍馬の山の大天狗でした!! 天狗は牛若丸に正体をあかすと、兵法（ひょうほう）をさずけるので平家をほろぼすように、と言うのでした。

天狗とともに修行した牛若丸でしたが、別れの時がやってきます。たもとにすがり、別れを惜しむ牛若。
大天狗は、義経を守ると約束し、消えて行きます。

異形のものとの、あたたかな交流と、切なすぎる別れ。幼い牛若丸にとって、この大天狗との出会いは心のよりどころとなったことでしょう。
歴史に残り、ひとびとに愛され続ける義経の伝説の、ここがはじまり。

間狂言（あいきょうげん）では、木の葉天狗（このはてんぐ=イラスト右樹上）たちが登場。牛若のためと、太刀稽古をはじめますが、あまり役にたたないようすです。
