阿多福…
日本神話の女性、日本最古の踊り子。
狂言の面としては室町時代から江戸時代初期が起源。
近代以降の民間芸能に使用され、日本各地各種の祭礼行列では道化として登場する。
本来古代において、太った福々しい体格の女性は災厄の魔除けになると信じられ、ある種の「美人」を意味したとされ『福を呼ぶ面相』として愛されている。

般若…
すべての事物や道理をあきらかに見抜く『深い智慧』のこと。
能の世界の『般若の面』との関係は薄い。
狂気をまとった恐ろしい女性、嫉妬や恨みの篭る女の顔としての「鬼女の能面」。
般若坊という僧侶が作ったところからその名前がついたとされる。
また『源氏物語』で般若経を読んで
怨霊を退治したことから、般若が面の名前となったといわれている。
