About this design

ドット絵ペンギン「16bitシリーズ」の新入りさんは、ペンギン全種の中でも最大種のアプテノディテス属(キングペンギン属)！
アプテノディテス属はエンペラーペンギンとキングペンギンの2種のみなので、人気者のえんぺひなちゃんときんぺひなちゃんにも加わってもらい、親子で並んでもらいました！
16×16ドット絵なのでもちろん「ピコピコしてるアプテノディテス属」略して「ピコアプテノディテス」です。
アプテノディテス属をキングペンギン属とした文献が多いのは、キングの方がエンペラーより先に発見された史実がおそらく元になっているのかなと推測。

エンペラーとキング、おとなは似ているようで実はいろんな違いがあるのです。エンペラーは縦にも横にもどっしり&足首まで白い羽毛に覆われていますが、キングは全体的にスマートでフリッパーやくちばしはエンペラーより長く、羽毛は足首を覆わずショートブーツのようなフォルムという違いがあります。
(他にも細かい違いがあるけどキリがないので割愛)
ヒナの違いは一目瞭然。えんぺひなの白黒グレーもふもふも、きんぺひなの茶色のもっふもふも保護色の役割をしているのです。愛らしさはどちらも負けない！
それらの特徴や違いを #忍者スリスリくんワクワクおえかきランドで16×16ドットの中で可能な限り再現してみました。
