エンペラーペンギンの首元の「042518」の数字は、世界ペンギンの4月25日と現在種として存在しているペンギン全18種を示しています。
その多くの種は地球温暖化、タンカーの原油流出、人間の資源採掘や漁業との競合でペンギンの生息地が減っている事、本来生息地にいなかったはずの人間の持ち込んだ生物に襲われるなどによって、絶滅が危惧されています
今世界にいるペンギンたちが未来も種が存続していけるように願いを込めて、エンペラーペンギンを中心に世界の18種のペンギンたちを1種1種、青いボールペンで細密画風に描きました
