About this design

着物ぺんぎんのソロバージョンシリーズから杜若の陣羽織と着物を纏ったキングペンギンの成鳥が登場です！
大型なのでコウテイペンギンとよく間違えられてしまう事の多いキングペンギンですが、身長はコウテイペンギンよりも20～30cm程低く、体型もスマートなのが特徴。他の見分けるポイントとしては頬の紋は鮮やかなオレンジ系で逆しずく型に閉じており、羽毛も黒ではなく銀色がかったグレー、胸のオレンジ～黄色のグラデーションが鮮やか、足首は羽毛に覆われていないなど。実はコウテイペンギンとの違いは色々多いのです。
生息域も南極大陸ではなく、南極近くの島々なのでコウテイたちよりも比較的温暖な気候の場所に住んでいます。そのためか日本でも飼育個体数が多く、冬には屋外に出てくる園館も多いです。冬のペンギンパレードの花形としても大活躍です！
そのスマートないでたちと色鮮やかな色彩からペンギン界の美男美女ナンバーワンとも言われています！
